Diverse Learners in a Multicultural World

Help me give my students a variety of tactile multicultural experiences. Play food and dramatic play apparel from many cultures will be an inviting and interactive way for them to learn about the diversity among many different people.

My Students

My students are a playful, creative and thoughtful group of 3-5 year olds with a variety of learning abilities. Coming from diverse backgrounds, my class includes a mixture of both typically developing students and exceptional students.

My students will gain a great foundation in multicultural awareness with these materials.

Having an awareness of cultures that differ from their own will lend students the ability to think about things in new ways and explore new concepts about other cultures in a safe and nurturing environment. It will also encourage them to be open to new experiences as the present themselves in life.

We live in a world full of so much diversity and amazing skills and it is changing every day. As a teacher, my goal is to prepare my students as much as possible for the real world and all of its wonderful diversity.

My Project

We live in a very diverse world, and our diverse learners will benefit from tactile, memorable experiences and materials from as many cultures as we can provide.

Creating a culturally diverse classroom can encourage awareness and acceptance of others within our preschool classrooms and hopefully beyond into the real world.

In today's world, some of us live in very diverse areas and others do not. Nonetheless, in other parts of daily life, be it work, travel or at the grocery store, we encounter people from many other cultures and backgrounds.

Providing materials from a variety of cultures like the requested costumes within our classroom will create experiences for the students that they will remember and draw on as they encounter a diverse range of individuals throughout their daily lives.
