This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning, students walk into our school buzzing and energetic, ready to learn. They come with questions, deep insights, and bright ideas.

We are a diverse school, full of different cultures and backgrounds.

Living in what was once considered "the poorest congressional district in the country", otherwise known as the South Bronx, our students face more challenges than some people we may know. We want to keep our kids in school to help them with their homework, provide small group instruction, and let them enjoy an hour of fun time!

My Project

Our classroom library is full of many books, donated by DonorsChoose.org donors. We have a wide variety, from fantasy to non-fiction, but our classroom library is lacking in graphic novels!

Graphic novels are a favorite of ALL of our readers!

These specific ones for this project feature diverse characters. Our students loved the Black Panther movie and have requested books featuring those characters. We also have many girls who would love to see themselves in a book, so why not a superhero​ book?

These books will be used in both Independent Reading time and our monthly school-wide Reading Marathons.
