Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students with ASD often experience sensory sensitivities and challenges that can significantly impact their learning and behavior. Traditional classroom settings can be overwhelming, leading to anxiety, meltdowns, and difficulty focusing. The diverse selection of tools and supplies will address these challenges by transforming the traditional experience into a controlled environment with a variety of sensory tools and experiences.
-Reducing Anxiety and Meltdowns: Providing a safe and calming space will help students manage sensory overload and prevent behavioral escalations.
-Improving Focus and Attention: By regulating sensory input, students will be better able to focus on academic tasks in the classroom.
-Developing Self-Regulation Skills: Students will learn to identify their sensory needs and use the differentiated space to regulate their emotions and behaviors.
-Enhancing Social-Emotional Learning: By providing the tools to create opportunities for students to practice social skills and build relationships in a supportive environment.
