Diverse Books for Our Community

Help me give my students and all the children at our school new books with diverse characters. It is important to our school community that we guide children to be open-minded, socially conscious, antiracist, and anti-bias.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. F.'s classroom raised $864

My Students

The children in our studio are a unique group of 30 individuals who coexist with the ultimate goal of being peaceful humans. The children are inspired to learn through their own passions. They all have embraced the Montessori philosophy of being true to what makes them unique. Our motto is to "Be you, bravely!" Our school is a public Montessori school that lives under our district's funding, so we are limited by our set budget. However, we have complete freedom to follow the Montessori curriculum and philosophy!

We honor every member of our studio: the right to be safe, the right to learn, the right to take care of personal needs, the right to explore, and the right to make mistakes.

What I admire most about the students in my care is their genuine kindness and acceptance for all members of our studio!

My Project

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. - Nelson Mandela

The beautiful thing about a book is that children can step into someone else's shoes for a little while and see the world from another perspective.

This list of 60 diverse books will be a beautiful addition to our shared school library.

Children need to see themselves in books, they need to see a representation of people that look like them as well as people from many cultures. When we read these books to the children or they choose to read them themselves, they will be inspired to understand the world from many perspectives. Having diverse books initiates conversations and thinking about racial and gender equality, diversity, and honoring all people. These books will help our children embrace being open-minded, affirm their identities, and build their self-esteem.
