it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting books that focus on diversity. I just moved to a new school, and as a librarian I was shocked to see that the book collection lacked diversity. The library at our school did not look like our readers at all. I believe that the books I am requesting will make a difference in my students’ learning and their lives, because they will inspire my students to work harder, to dare to see themselves overcoming and doing great things, and dreaming of who they could become.
The goals of my project is to inspire students to see themselves as amazing and powerful and to work harder to dream big dreams and achieve their dreams.
My students are special because they work hard and don’t give up despite being from impoverished families. They are special because life has not provided them with everything, but they still work extremely hard. They are creative, smart, and diverse learners. I want to present them with books that look like them, so they can visualize all that they can do.
