My Students
My students or their families are from all over the world. They are brilliant and love to laugh. Every one of them has an infectious laugh.
I have a few students who have to keep their hands moving at all times and will doodle or write almost all day long.
I have one student who loves to help me manage my classroom. She is such an asset to have in class.
I also have several students with sensory issues who need to know that our classroom is a safe place for them.
The diversity in my classroom is more than just race or culture, as you can see.
My Project
High quality books mean high interest books. When children can see images of children in books that look like them the books are more likely to be chosen to enjoy.
My students are diverse in race and culture as well as diverse in learning needs and developing beliefs.
Having diverse books in my classroom means my students will be able to connect to characters who are portrayed in positive manners who look like my students.
It is so critical that young learners, like 1st graders, find a love of reading!
