My students need diverse books that provide them with texts that exposes them to global situations and various cultures at differentiated levels.

My Students

How can we grow seven year old learners who read at a fourth and fifth grade level?

Data shows that students thrive when they are provided with wide variety of texts to chose from.

Our students need books that challenge them academically but do not expose them to content and ideas that are not age appropriate. These children love to be challenged and enjoy school, often expressing their want to learn. Our students come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs. We are a high performing school with a lack rigorous and diverse texts in our classroom libraries.

These students need books to read on their own to challenge their thinking as well as books to read in book clubs to facilitate collaboration.

My Project

These books will provide our classroom with diverse guided reading books and diverse books for us to read aloud. The "You Should Meet" and the "Living In" book sets will give us a look into 6 different cultures and 6 different historical figures! All the guided reading books are at various reading levels to reach all students within our classroom.

By donating to our project you will help provide students with books they can relate and books that expose them to one another's cultures.

The rest of the books, such as A Boy Called Bat and a Rickshaw Girl, will be read to the whole class to encourage acceptance and provide knowledge and exposure to different cultures and types of people. We could not be more excited to provide our students with this diverse set of books!!
