My Students

Each year, I teach to a diverse group of 5 and 6 year old children. I teach in Tempe, and we get students from all over the world.

I have taught students from China, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, India, and several other countries.

All of my students are eager learners and love being read to!

My Project

Please help me get more multicultural books into the hands of my students! I have quite a collection of books, but not many of them are inclusive of the community that I teach.

This year will be a challenge in many ways, from social distancing in the classroom to wearing masks (when we leave the room) and I want to do whatever I can to make kindergarten fun and comfortable for every child.

Each student deserves to feel safe and included. I feel that quality literature is a great way to expose young learners to culture, inclusion and friendship.

Some titles I've requested are Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry, The Skirt by Gary Soto, and The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi to name a few. If you are able to, please donate to a much needed book update for a diverse classroom! Thank you!
