Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach an extraordinary group of middle school students in the Bronx. I believe that my students, and all students, have so much potential and I want to use that to enhance their future both inside and out of education. My students are very diverse, both in their variety of cultures, their needs and their learning styles which makes my job the best in the world.

My students constantly keep me on my toes and their curious minds teach me something new every day.

Most of my students are living in poverty, have insecure housing, or are either immigrants or first-generation Americans. Most of my students have experienced trauma in their lives and all of my students are exceptional individuals who show up each and every day, ready to learn.

My Project

All students deserve to use great resources and materials to further their education. Purchasing simple and basic school supplies will set my students and classroom up for success right from the start. Students will utilize copy paper, pens, markers and colored pencils for daily classroom assignments, notebook entries, projects, labs and more! Additionally, with these materials accessible there are more possibilities both inside and outside of the classroom. For example, students can work together on poster presentations, can engage in completing science notes by gluing and taping various papers into their notebooks. Students need cleaning supplies such as Purell and band-aids to maintain a safe and clean environment throughout the school day. Furthermore, expo markers are a staple when working with whiteboards and the appropriate organization is necessary for student supplies.
