My Students

My students are learning Korean as their second language. Most of my students are not Korean. They are learning Korean to fulfill their foreign language credits in order to receive a high school diploma. I also teach second and third-generation Korean Americans.

My students come from all parts of Queens with various economic, educational, cultural and language backgrounds.

They learn the Korean language, culture, and heritage in my class and we need a lot of resources since the city budget is very tight on education.

My Project

The students who are in the Korean year 3 need more learning resources. Currently, we are using outdated textbooks so I have to make a lot of worksheets and it requires a great amount of time and effort. I would like to use the time to enhance my lesson plans to improve student engagement instead. My students also need more EXPO markers for class activities. We have been using the EXPO markers since September, so many of them dried. In my class, my students are participating in various types of activities to improve their writing and listening skills every week.
