As a special education teacher, data is always being collect! I have spent years trying to figure out the best way to track and keep record of all the data that has to be collected on a daily basis. I generally utilize paper data sheets that I have created but this causes a lot of waste and can be cumbersome to carry. This year, I found the perfect solution- having a device to help me do so would make things 100% easier!
Digital data collection will allow students data to be quickly documented for their data goals, behaviors, and needs.
It will also give them a chance to see their progress and allow parents a first hand glance at their needs. Having a portable device will ensure that I am always ready to input information on the go! I will always have what I need on hand as I go in and out of several classrooms, without shuffling through wasteful paper.
Having the ability to collect data quickly will allow students to receive more data driven goals, supports, and interventions. Each student will also be able to utilize the tech to make inputs on their learning, emotional state, needs, and wants; have access to one on one programs while working with me and see day to day how things are going. Having access to digital data collection will benefit the students overall IEP process and day to day education in the classroom.
