Distance Means So Little, When Life Means So Much!

Help me give my students a healthy environment to learn in this year. The science boards will be used as a learning tool as well as a divider to distance them while working.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are witty and fun-loving. They walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. Most of my students are bilingual or newcomers from Mexico. They live in a low-economic neighborhood with Spanish speaking parents. They are desperate to learn to better their lives in our country. My newcomers only get educated in the English language about 6 hours a day between the walls of my classroom. They go home to Spanish speaking homes. It is up to me to teach them English. iPads in my classroom can help me use this time wisely. I need assistance to help my newcomers feel successful with their handicap. Technology is easy to learn by students. It is a universal tool that can keep the learning happening in my room.

My Project

These science boards will allow my students to be separated while learning at their tables. It allows students to work in a healthy environment which is best for them. During independent work times, they have a safe location in the classroom that works for them. Currently, my students sit at tables that are close together. The science boards will allow me to divide the students, giving them their own mini office or working area. They can use the boards to hand posters, charts, and learning materials to help them in their independent work. It can also make a great learning tool, such as a word wall. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. This will help them be more engaged, and get more work completed.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them a healthy option while using it as a learning tool. The science boards can be beneficial to their learning as well as keeping them safe.
