This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach the best students ever. I teach third through fifth grade students with special needs. They come from a diverse background which includes English Language Learners and Gifted students. Almost our entire school receives free breakfast and lunch. Although these kids experience hardships, they love the school setting and give 100%.

As we begin this historic moment of Distance Learning my third through fifth grade students are ready to dive into books, investigate STEM topics, and collaborate with their classmates.

My Project

Can you imagine what it's like for students to be learning but not being able to see their teacher modeling examples of using math manipulatives or a diagram in a nonfiction book? My students often say, "I can't see. The print is too small or the picture is too blurry." My students are often frustrated when I am holding up papers because there is too much movement back and forth.

This document camera will allow my students to vividly experience it all.

Now students can see the vivid colors in a text, a clear moment in time, or read an important comment. Together, the document camera and the book, Red Rover, will engage my students in meaningful science conversations and have them lingering on the beautiful illustrations. My students will be more engaged and enthusiastic about STEM learning activities with this new teaching tool.

Because every moment is significant, a document camera is essential during Distance Learning.
