Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching social studies and science to all of our 3rd graders this year! They love to learn and get their hands dirty. My students live in an extremely low-income area which often limits their exposure to life experiences. Because of this, I try to bring as many real-life discoveries into our classroom that I can. My students take on every challenge head-on and would love to have a science-based classroom!
My students work really hard to achieve our classroom goals, I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.
That includes having the support and resources they need to help them build their love for science and education!
My Project
My students are , for the first time ever, attempting to learn from a screen. While this has provided some really neat learning opportunities, it has given us a few challenges as well! Many students do not have a way to stay organized and will lose the hard copies of assignments given to them. Many students are struggling to do math activities provided as they do not have the correct manipulatives to attempt things at home. Many students have enjoyed practicing sketching, so I wanted to give them a special place to do that which may help calm them. Although distance learning has created a few barriers for my students, my hope in doing this project is to create more bridges for learning, and opportunities to grow!
