This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Math and Science Bilingual Teacher. I teach at an "at risk", low economic area in the Houston Independent School District. My students are a group of 2nd grade scholars who are highly motivated to learn, specially when they know they are cared about.

My students are English Language Learners in a Bilingual Transitional Program.

Their families are from different parts of Mexico and Central America and most of them are the first generation born and raise in The United States of America. My second grade students have gone thru a lot of different, and in most cases difficult, experiences that made me have the need to request all the help they can get to be successful in life.

My second graders need to expand their technological resources, specially for Math and Science while learning English, and these devices will further their knowledge. These devices will open a world full of resources availables for their learning, and give them rich experience using updated devices. They will really appreciate your support. I am looking forward to seeing them become great leaders and productive citizens of this country.

My Project

Due to COVID-19 we had to do virtual teaching since March, 2020. As a math and science teacher, I encountered many difficulties presenting and explaining specific content to my students from home; especially to elaborate on misconceptions. It would have being more effective if I had the opportunity to have an XP-Pen stylus and Graphic Tablet so I could display a better explanation of their misconceptions and have the visual help to show them how to fix their errors. Taking a picture of the correct way to solve a problem is, in most cases, is not the best way to show how to solve a problem. With this XP-Pen stylus and Graphic Tablet, I will be able to show step by step and at the same time I can do a visual demonstration of how to correct their own misconceptions.
