Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school serves the community of South San Francisco. Many of my students come from low-income families, and many come from immigrant parents.
My students are excited learners and kind humans.
They are also extremely resilient. Due to our Covid19 pandemic, all of my students (then in Kindergarten) and their families had to navigate distance learning. In Fall, my students, now all 1st graders, will be returning to a school that will look and feel foreign to them. I am determined to make their learning experience a positive one, no matter what challenges and obstacles we face together.
My Project
My students will be starting the year with distance learning. This is going to be an enormous challenge for me, their teacher, and most definitely for my wonderful students. I have put together a wish list to prepare "tool kits" for my students to learn successfully from home. In these toolkits, I will provide students writing and drawing utensils and materials and math manipulatives.
Having these resources in my students' possession will allow for active learning, albeit at a distance.
I want my students to be as successful as possible in distance learning, and I know these toolkits will help tremendously! Thank you!
