Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a predominantly low-income school located in Santa Ana, California. A large population of our school consists of ELL students who come from immigrant families. These students do not speak English at home and often times their parents speak very limited English.
The early years are some of the most crucial years in a child's education.
As a TK/Kindergarten/first grade/second grade student, it is especially important to begin building a strong foundation for school. Our focus is on creating a comfortable and safe environment for students to thrive.
My Project
As we start this school year off with so much uncertainty, one thing is for sure: students need support to keep on learning. I would like to provide my students with individual tool kits they can use at home to help with their learning. The pouches will hold ten frame kits, letter tiles, and number charts that students will be able to use at home during live lessons and when they work independently on assignments.
Once we are transition back in to the classroom, students will be able to bring their tool kits with them to continue the learning without the risk of sharing materials.
I hope to provide students with the materials and resources they need in order to be successful this school year.
