Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach pregnant and parenting students. The pandemic added the hardship of trying to complete courses while caring for their children at home. However, my students are persistent in finishing their classes. Many of them care for their children while attending online class sessions.
While attending online class meetings, students are taking copious notes, viewing instructions, and asking questions while feeding their child and addressing concerns from persons in their homes.
Moreover, I upload all students' assignments into GoogleDrive so that I may track their progress and offer instructional feedback. Students are online at all hours - sometimes at 1:00, and 2:00 am working on assignments.
I hope to reward their efforts and support their needs by sending much needed instructional and personal supplies to their home.
My Project
My students are resilient and hard-working. They are tasked with credit recovery and course completion through online learning while caring for their children at home. I hope to alleviate the stress of having to add unnecessary travel to their schedules by sending much-needed child care materials to their residence.
Since the pandemic started, many of my students have had to juggle child care responsibilities with other domestic tasks.
They are caring for parents, grandparents, children, and themselves while trying to learn the content and skills necessary for college and careers. Additionally, many of them have taken on jobs to support their families. COVID-19 has left many of their relatives furloughed or laid-off, adding additional stress to their households.
I hope to help them manage their lives by sending necessary resources to their homes so that they may focus on course completion and stay on track for graduation.
