This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

March 13 was our last day of school with my students and only about half my class came to school that day. I was scrambling all day to try and put together work for students and at the point I was thinking we'd only be out for a few weeks. No way did I ever imagine I wouldn't get to say goodbye to my kids and that would be our last day for the year.

A majority of my students don't have access to technology and so many of them are relying on the work packets passed out by our district.

Many of the families that attend our school our low-economic status and don't have internet access or technology for their children. Unfortunately, the most recent packet was not mailed out to all families because of costs. Families had to come by our school to pick it up and being at a school in a low-economic status area many families don't have reliable transportation nor is their a bus stop nearby. Therefore, many of my students weren't able to get the most recent work packet distributed by our school.

My Project

I was graciously given a voucher through DonorsChoose to provide Distance Learning Materials for my students, but there were two items I wanted to included that could not be purchased using the voucher. I would like to give the students a canvas bag that would have all the supplies, books, snacks, etc. in it and a paint by sticker activity book, we used these throughout the year and my students loved them.

I last saw my students on March 13 and even then not all my students came to school that day.

I will be hand delivering these goodie bags to each of my students as not only a way to help them continue their learning outside of school, but as a way for us to say goodbye for the end of the year.
