I am lucky to work with a wonderful group of students ranging from preschool to 6th grade. My students are in the general education and multiple disabilities classrooms. They love to learn new things and interact in the small group setting.
My students all have individualized speech and language goals, and therefore use different materials/activities to work towards achieving their goals.
I use these materials to support what their classroom teacher is teaching them while focusing on their speech, language, and pragmatic goals.
My students' goals range from improving their speech (articulation) to expanding and developing their ability to effectively communicate. Every week I try to find new and engaging ways to help them enjoy and learn in my classroom.
My Project
My school has been alternating between a hybrid and a blended learning model this school year. The students have been amazing throughout both learning models. They are working so hard to be online on time and present when we are in the school building.
With the constantly changing setting, I have found the need for some new materials to best serve the students.
The mini binders are for my students who use low-tech AAC systems. I send home their binders with them daily. However, with the constant changes a lot of binders have not returned to school. I want to have a back stock of binders so that I can easily make a student a new one and they are not without their communication system. The ziploc bags and larger pouches are so I can send materials home with them when we switch the distance learning. The bins are because I am constantly sanitizing the materials that my students and myself touch. This is important because I see multiple classes and grade levels in a day. As a result, the cardboard boxes that house my materials have started to disintegrate. Lastly, the OSMO learning system would vastly improve my distance learning lessons. OSMO projects materials that I am using to my students screen. This would make reading books, looking at letters/words on a dry erase board, and seasonal sensory bins much easier to view for the students.
Thank you for your consideration in funding my project. My students have greatly benefitted from previous Donor's Choose projects. They love exploring new materials that make learning more fun and engaging.
