Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a school librarian, I make a positive impact on all 600 students in our learning community. My campus is a Title 1 school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. They show up to the library bright-eyed and eager to communicate, collaborate, and learn. The library is the heart of the school and a safe place where students can build a love of reading. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels. Each one is unique, and everyone in the library respects each other. I care about my students, and they know it!

My goal is to encourage students to become independent and lifelong readers and learners.

At the library, students enjoy reading a good book, being innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. I especially love that they are creative and try their best on everything that comes their way. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis.

My Project

I am starting this school year as a proud school librarian. My classes are all virtual and I meet with all of my students, grades PreK-5th, every week. As a librarian, I have to prepare lessons on literacy, information literacy, research, digital citizenship and so much more. My students and I are in need of resources that will engage them and ones they can interact with.

I want to make learning fun and engaging for all my students while distance teaching.

I am requesting a gift card from Teachers Pay Teachers to purchase resources that will excite my students during this difficult time. They offer a plethora of resources that can be used digitally to keep students engaged. Please consider supporting my class so that I can continue to provide good quality instruction.
