This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a diverse, Title I school in Phoenix, AZ. Many of my students come to school without the basic supplies needed to complete work though out the day. The parents of my students work hard to provide for their children, but many of them fall short financially after taking care of the bare necessities. I do everything in my power to provide what I can for my class.

Every day in my classroom is a chance for students to productively struggle and break free from their comfort zone, which is necessary for them to achieve growth and accomplish things they could never have imagined possible.

Our students were sent home with technology to continue distance learning, but noting else. They do not have pencils to show their math work on scratch paper, or colored pencils to complete their art projects.

My Project

Please help me give my students the necessary supplies needed to work at home. We were all thrown into distance learning without any notice. I said goodbye to my students as we left for spring break, never thinking that was the last day we would spend in the classroom together this year.

Everything changed so quickly, I didn't have time to send home supplies that would help my students be successful with learning from home.

As we start to think about what next year will look like, we are left with so many unanswered questions. I want to make sure that all of my students have everything they need to be successful during this uncertain, unprecedented time.

Please help me create supply pouches to send home with each student that includes ear buds for their technology, colored pencils to work on their art projects, and pencils and highlighters to show their work.
