Carpe diem! These are the words that greet my students daily as they enter our classroom. I aim to create an environment filled with creativity, educational challenges, happiness, and self-awareness. Every day, my students rise to the challenge and truly seize the day!
My students attend a Title I public school in New York City where nearly all students come from low-income households.
My students are a diverse group of intellectually gifted fourth graders. Their interests are unique and varied, yet they share the trait of innate inquisitiveness. Our classroom is a place of discovery and inquiry. We strive to tap into our higher-order thinking skills on a daily basis, pushing ourselves to explore and think deeply.
My Project
This will be a school year unlike any other. My students will be participating in remote learning, and I will give my all to make it an engaging and enriching school year for my wonderful students.
One of the biggest challenges of remote learning is to provide my students with as much individualized attention as possible.
I do this through a number of ways, through Zoom lessons, small group Google Classroom Meets, and individual check-ins. It is a lot to coordinate and definitely more challenging through a computer screen than in our physical classroom. This doesn’t stop us though! We work hard and try our best. Having the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards would assist me in creating engaging, individualized activities for my students. It would prove to be of tremendous help. These materials will prove to be such helpful tools in our learning adventure this year.
