My students are amazing 8th graders! Which also means they are in their last year of middle school. We finished our school week on Friday, March 13th, after learning about the novel coronavirus and what classifies a pandemic. We even practiced for a couple of days, what it would be like to learn physical science via distance learning like we had heard was happening around the world already. But we were in no way prepared for that to be our final day together as a group.
My 8th graders will miss properly celebrating their successful graduation from elementary and middle school learning, and moving on to making career exploration choices in high school.
They won't get to tour their new high schools, or have end-of-year parties.
My Project
I want to help to make the final month of school as meaningful and connected as possible for my students.
The addition of a document camera, desktop easel, and whiteboard panel will help me in being as connected as I can to my students as they finish the year learning chemistry, the periodic table, and about light waves as they pertain to skin cancer.
I will be able to use these items to post content details like key concepts, vocabulary, and even our life lessons to view in the background of our Zoom school lessons.
