Distance Learners Need Tools for Their Home Tool Boxes!
Help me give my students an academic tool box to be successful with distance learning as we navigate through this pandemic. Pencils, crayons, clip boards, and paper will make distance learning manageable and organized at home for all!

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I am so lucky to have a wonderful, amazingly curious group of fourth graders who have an inner drive to excel and a passion for learning. I teach the fourth grade Gifted and Talented Education class, and my students are truly amazing learners. They come to class excited to learn and prepared to do their best.
Armed with the thirst for knowledge, they do have obstacles outside of my classroom that they fight against every day.
My school is located in a low socioeconomic area of Anaheim, California. Most of my students live under the poverty level, receive free or reduced-priced breakfast and lunch, and live in government-subsidized housing. Hunger, overcrowded living conditions, and inadequate supplies to aid in their learning at home are all problems that these children face in their lives outside of school.
My classroom is a place where they can feel safe and supported and have tools and technology to help them master learning objectives. I also try to present these learners with as many hands-on experiences to cement the learning that happens during school hours.
My Project
Imagine trying to start the school year without any supplies at all?? In the past, when students come into a classroom, all of the supplies that they use for daily learning are at the students' finger tips. With these unprecedented times in education with distance learning, not all homes or families are equipped with all of the supplies that a regular classroom has for scholars to learn, create, and flourish.
The goal of this project is to create an academic tool kit for each of my students to welcome them to the new world of virtual learning, while providing them with all of the tools that they need to be a success while tackling online education!
Each student will be provided with a pencil box containing pencils, crayons, a pencil sharpener, a pad of writing paper, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils, and a clip board to make learning organized and a success.
Many of my students are economically disadvantaged and have multiple siblings also learning from home during this pandemic. This tool kit would not only keep their own materials together in one place, but help them to be ready each day for learning. Organization and tools are the key to success! Thank you.
