Passion is an amazing, yet rare quality for high school students. However, some students find an area of interest and pursue it. All students enrolled in this Zoology course are passionate about science, but more specifically animals. They are looking for a memorable experience and opportunity.
The students you will be supporting are in high school.
They have enrolled in a Zoology class only offered within our school district. They are university and college bound students who have chosen to take additional science courses to prepare them for their undergraduate experience. They are motivated and passionate about animals. Some will pursue degrees in ecology, marine biology, and veterinary sciences. The enjoy hands-on learning and will appreciate any exposure with animals. Do to cuts in education, they have been affected by changes in funds and resources available to them. Even knowing these cuts have occurred, they have still enrolled in a laboratory science class with the hopes of gaining any possible exposure to animals.
My Project
Zoology is the study of animals. Many students are unaware of the classification and taxonomy used to distinguish animals. Throughout the school year, the Zoology class will learn about the major animal phyla and the species found within. The most interesting phyla for most students is the Phyla Chordata. Within this phyla you will find all the vertebrate animals. Vertebrate animals range from birds, to sharks, to reptiles and mammals. This vertebrate study kit will allow students to get hands-on experience with animals from each vertebrate class. They will study the external anatomy and then dissect the animals to compare the internal differences.
Students feel very special when their education exceeds standards.
By knowing that individuals are supporting their education in a time when it seems most people are cutting their educational resources, they will feel a sense of value and importance. Not only will these donations reach them on an educational level, they will also realize that people do care about education.
