My project needs 40 preserved grass frogs, 3 preserved bullfrogs, a comparative anatomy display of hind limbs (including a frog's), and a frog development display along with enough dissection tools, T-pins, protective aprons, gloves, and storage pans for a class size of 30.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At my high-needs theater arts middle and high school in the Bronx, many of my students have gone through their entire middle school and high school careers without doing a hands-on lab experiment in science class.
This year, I am teaching the first biology class at the school. While my 10th grade students are filled with questions and amazement for science, we are short on the very supplies and funding I need to teach the essential concepts of biology.
When students first came into my classroom, the first thing they asked was, "when do we get to dissect the frog?" The students have shown remarkable achievement thus far this year; I can't imagine not giving them the opportunity to see organ systems and structure of a living thing in a safe environment.
My goal is to incorporate frog dissection into the dynamic equilibrium and homeostasis unit of our study this year. Beyond learning about the organ system and structure of the frog, students will develop skills in the use of laboratory equipment, observation, and safety. To achieve these goals, I will need dissection tools and pins, trays for safe and clean dissections, frogs for the students to dissect, large frogs to use as demos, aprons to protect their clothes, and gloves.
Many of these pieces of equipment are completely reusable, and I hope to use them with my flower dissection project as well. I aim to link this experience to proceeding units on development and evolution through the use of a frog development display and similar hind leg structures display which includes a frog as well as their memory of the dissection lab.
This experience is an opportunity for you to give my students the chance to experience science beyond what my school has been able to offer. My proposed project is more than just a dissection lab; it is a chance for you to make possible a tangible and real science learning experience that they will remember for years to come.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
