My Project
Our school is a true community that is diverse, inclusive, and loving. Our students are remarkable in so many ways, bringing a smile to teachers’ faces everyday. Destined to be world-changers, they are the essence of our school family, and they inspire teachers daily. We are a K4-5th grade school that receives Title One funding in Greenville, SC. For many of our students, the first time they pick up a book is in our classrooms. By providing a book vending machine, our students will have the new opportunity to choose a book that interests them, read it, and also be able to share their passion for it with their families. We are hoping to cultivate a love of reading throughout our school community.
One book has the power to change a child’s world and our students are capable of changing the world.
Something magical happens when a student opens a good book. The book allows the student to journey through a story, use their imagination, see themselves in a story, and much more. Our school works hard at bringing about a love for reading, and that also means giving kids the opportunities to access new books in a fun and exciting way.
The book vending machine will have books that reflect our students’ diverse population, diverse range of interests, and reading levels to help serve our entire community. Students will have opportunities to earn tokens for their hard work in the classroom and their kind-hearts throughout the school, which they will then get to spend on a book of their choice.
By providing a book vending machine, we can encourage kids to read and grow their literacy skills. The power of reading is reliably strong and something we strive daily to instill a love for in our school family.
