This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us clean up our school! These students are leading the way in helping our school environment.

The students doing this project are 7th graders in a charter school in Northern California.

As part of their science class, they are participating in the Disney Planet Challenge and wish to clean up the litter and waste on the campus. They have developed a program to educate the other middle school students on where our waste goes and what we can do to have a cleaner, greener school.

My Project

The students are building waste receptacles that have different compartments so that all of the middle school students can sort their trash. The three Schoolyard Gourmet Composters that we are requesting will be used to make compost from the food scraps of the students lunches. The compost created from the lunches will be used in the flower beds and vegetable gardens here at the school. These compost bins are are easy to assemble and easy to use, which is perfect for 7th grade students to use.

This project was designed by the students and will be implemented by them as well.

With your help, the ideas and plans that they have made can be turned into a reality. The 7th graders can see that they really can make a difference in the world around them.
