Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As an educator, I face many challenges. One challenge that we face today is preparing our students for the new, technologically advanced world that we live in. If we don't prepare students for this new world they will fall behind before they begin.

I teach at a small school in South Carolina.

Our school is a Title One school which means a majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch. I have a very diverse class of 23 eager to learn 4th graders. My students enjoy reading and hands on learning activities. I also teach a Robotics Club for 3rd and 5th grade students.

My Project

During one of my Master's classes, our professor introduced Snap Circuit Kits to us. This powerful teaching tool is a hands-on educational kit that encourages students to explore the properties of electricity and magnetism through the use of problem solving. Students will have to be able to follow a diagram, construct a project using a diagram, and problem solve if the project doesn't work correctly. I also plan to teach the importance in conserving energy with these kits. The students will understand the importance clean, renewable, alternative energy with this Green kit from Elenco. It comes with instructions and materials for solar energy, wind power, hydro power and more. Quickly assemble over 125 projects with this educational kit from Elenco. This kit has 300 kid friendly projects that were designed to encourage learning in a hands-on way. I plan to utilize these educational kits to enhance our electricity and robotics units too.

My job as a teacher is to prepare my students for the technological world that we live in.

John Dewey stated, "If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's, we rob them of tomorrow." I know my students will benefit greatly from being exposed to Snap Circuits Green Energy Kit. A seed planted in a child's mind can produce a lifelong learner. With your help, I can expose my students to technology that will assist them in the future. Thank you for making a difference in my students' lives
