Help me give my students real life exploring with Science specimens to provide opportunities to view life up close and spark interest, and math discovery cans to build on knowledge gaps in a hands-on way.

My Students
This is a community of hard working families spread out across the the Santiam Canyon. The district serves students from Detroit, Idanha, Gates, and Mill City.
I love that these students work hard to overcome their situations and press on towards a brighter path and future against all odds.
Many of the students ride a bus for over an hour to attend school. They arrive tired and have trouble staying engaged during the long school day. I am passionate about finding new ways to engage my students and give them hands on learning opportunities.
My Project
Students rarely get time during an ordinary day to just explore new knowledge or dig deeper into a sparked interest. Exploring is the most basic and fundamental skill of learning.
My idea is to renew excitement for learning.
The items that I have selected will be used for individual exploration, deeper understanding and fit in the model for limited in person learning.
Each student would get a math or science discovery option and a sensory option on their desk for the week. The items would then be sanitized and given to the next student for the following week. All students would get access to concept building and future sparks for college and career readiness though these items.
