FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. A.'s classroom raised $706
This project is fully funded
I teach at a rural school in Morganton North Carolina. We are a Title 1 school with 58% free and reduced lunches. We are also a second home for children in residence at South Mountains Children's Home. Our population is diverse in a unique way, as we are also home to a high population of Asian, Latino, and African American families not to mention smaller populations of diverse cultures.
In the coming month, we will be doing environmental studies that show children how cultures around the world interact with their environment. Through this study we will be able to engage in a study of plants and animals around the world, within our country at national parks, and throughout other countries in various habitats. We would like to have the opportunity to experience what plant life and vegetation is like on different continents throughout the world.
This will give us the opportunity to explore many areas of science and social studies as we discover more about the world around us. We would integrate our global experiences by permeating them into art projects and literature projects within the unit of study.
To make this project a reality, we would like to have a Science Around the World Collection, a Bonsai Garden, a Salsa Garden, An Herb Garden, a Bamboo Starter Kit, a Vegetable Solarium, a Sunflower Garden, a Zen Garden, a Talking Globe Jr., an Italian Garden, a Silk Worm City, and books titled "Tales Alive," "Global Art," "Poems Around the World," "National Park Collection" and "Picture and Country Collection."
