My students need this library to foster their love of reading as well as support their literary curiosity and their nonfiction study to help them expand their knowledge about a variety of topics.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Glier's classroom raised $632
This project is fully funded
My Students
My school is located in the heart of Brooklyn; which has fostered a classroom that is diverse on multiple levels; culturally, economically, cognitively as well as servicing multiple language speaking students. Despite their lack of physical experiences, students are excited to take trips in their imaginations through the stories they read. They make connections and empathize with the characters and find themselves immersed in plots that allow them to escape from their sometime difficult realities. Through collaboration with their peers they create expressive literary art that allows the different learning styles of my classroom to shine. I encourage my students to be life long learners and to seek new learning opportunities whenever they present themselves.
My Project
Students will be able to explore their various interests of nonfiction topics through their research. They will be able to travel the world, meet a new person, or find themselves face to face with an unfamiliar animal, among other topics; that they would have not encountered without this library.
The rich abundance of text features will allow the topics to come to life for our diverse community of visual and kinesthetic learners as well as ENL ( English as a New Language) students.
This library will not only give the students the opportunity to learn something new but it will allow them to become passionate about topics that they have never been exposed to before.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
