This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a fabulous elementary school. Recently, we have been designated as a Gold STEAM school. I would like to continue our STEAM adventure for this new school year with my fourth graders. Math and science will be infused to show they go hand-in-hand with reading and writing. I want to introduce them to programs like Discovery Learning to supplement their science text. We have an incredible robotics program in the school and enrichment programs that encourage students in these subject areas. I'm excited to show students how these subjects are interdisciplinary.
My Project
The Apple iPad will help my students access Discovery Education to learn Science through technology. Students are using 21st century skills to engage in activities by using the program to view videos, collaborate with other students, and submit their responses. They are more proactive in reading the topics, simulating labs, and discovering new ways to complete STEAM challenges. Additionally, they will also use the iPad to create new ways of presenting their information to the class with use of videos and QR codes. They will scan the codes in order to present their STEAM challenge using a QR reader, exposing them to other forms of class presentations.
