Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Throughout the school year, we engage in book clubs to share and explore texts as a community. To finish off this school year, we will be working in book clubs again to read science fiction and fantasy texts.
During this unit, our mini-lessons and book club discussions will help us think critically about characters and themes in these texts in ways that help us understand ourselves and our world. We also aim to build our classroom library with novels that represent different levels and topics to captivate readers. Adding new books helps to revive interest in reading and enables students to build connections in powerful ways.
We will focus on identifying and analyzing the elements of science fiction and fantasy texts, evaluating various themes, and ultimately writing our own science fiction or fantasy stories.
