This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every morning we start off the day with breakfast in the classroom. The students come in, get their materials ready and eat breakfast. As students eat their breakfast, they start reading a novel of their choice.
My students are amazing.
They are constantly helping each other succeed. They care so much about each other and have built a family in the classroom. Throughout the months, we have started to track our reading in the classroom. In November, students took 20 Accelerated Reader tests with 80% or better. In December, the students have taken 70 AR tests in just 2 weeks. Their enthusiasm in reading has sky rocketed.
My Project
With the amount of books being read, students are running out of options of what books to read in the classroom library. With the new books being added to the classroom library, students enthusiasm with reading will continue to grow. Students will go places that they have never been to before. Their imagination will continue to expand. As they continue to read, they will also be able to improve on their literacy skills while having fun reading.
Donating books to our classroom library will allow students to get excited about reading.
Reading books is an art that has disappeared. Students minds will be expanded while also improving their literacy skills.
