My Students
Hello! I currently teach in a 5th grade self-contained special education classroom in Mount Vernon, New York. The students in my class are all special in their own way. Therefore, their learning needs are all different as well. Throughout our day we engage in computer time, small group work, whole group, and 1 to 1 teaching. In our class we live by the motto "All students can learn and succeed, but not in the same day in the same way".
My Project
For this project, I am asking for a classroom set of guided reading books. I work daily with different students trying to immerse them in the reading process. During this guided reading time, we delve into the world of fiction and non-fiction books. With this guided reading library, I will be able to work with students on all different reading levels, on all different genres, in order to help students reach the fullest potential. This library will also help students to increase their fluency and comprehension of texts.
