Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There are formative years where we as social people develop our skills to engage with others around us in a productive, healthy manner. This inevitably will involve agreements, disagreements, challenges and frustrations. There is an entire generation that did not have the social interactions due to the pandemic. In addition to their loss of time in the classroom and the academic gaps that exist, these students struggle to converse in real life, with each other. We must then use more visual stimulants and incentivize their engagement with guidance.

Visual representations can make sharing ideas easier, additionally smaller whiteboards around the room takes the pressure off of the individual, building the confidence of each learner.

They can then share their ideas with a smaller group, prior to seeing how their ideas fit within the larger group.

Incentivizing this engagement with technology based games (Nintendo Switch), that also require teamwork in person, bridges the gaps that the students have. They are all comfortable with technology, but the idea of navigating while working with others is a skill that has been lacking as a result of the isolation experienced during the time of COVID.
