In the light of recent tragic events, my students bring about hope for a better future. While they hail from all over the globe, speak a multitude of different languages, and come from a wide array of economic situations, they work together in unity. Through playing in a band together, they learn the values of teamwork, tolerance, understanding, and loyalty. We see our wonderful diversity as an asset and a strength. I can only hope that they can carry this notion of setting aside differences to achieve unity into the future.
My students are energetic, determined, and love to share their musical gifts with the school and local community.
They are truly a joy to behold.
My Project
"Spit happens" has become a phrase often spoken on our band room. Moisture from saliva and condensation is a normal part of life in band class. Over time the moisture builds up inside the instruments and can cause damage to the pads...not to mention, it's pretty gross! The swabs requested in this project will be used to clean the moisture out of our clarinets and alto saxophones. The mouthpiece cushions will help mitigate the vibrations students often complain of feeling in their top teeth when they play. Finally the two bell kits will allow more of our percussionists to practice at home, as we currently share four practice bell kits between 24 percussionists!
While music programs are being decimated across our nation due to insufficient funds, our band program has grown to include nearly 300 students!
As a result of our growth, students often have to share instruments. The swabs requested in this project are essential tools to help control the spread of germs. Please help our band program flourish! Thank you for your time and consideration!!
