This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, the entire group of kindergarten students at our Title I school are very curious and eager to learn. How great would it be to engage their learning than to provide them with a hands-on experience?
Many of our families cannot afford to visit museums, zoos, aquariums or other fun places where learning comes to life.
Our group includes three whole kindergarten classes, plus 3 special needs children and one student with Type 1 diabetes.
We have a diverse group of families. Some come from other countries, speak different languages and come from a large variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. More than 60% of our students receive free or reduced lunch and many receive free backpack food every weekend as well.
My Project
Unfortunately, being a Title I school we don't have the funding for this wonderful experience. Our kindergarten students are at the height of curiosity and their love of learning is never-ending! As kindergarten teachers, we strongly believe that it is our job to make learning as exciting, interesting, and hands-on as possible.
What better way to fuel the fire of learning than through field trips?!
We encourage our students to ask questions, test ideas, and problem-solve every day. We do our best to build positive learning experiences for them and field trips are a great way to make it even more intriguing and meaningful!
