My students need a variety of books to celebrate and embrace diversity.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Waters's classroom raised $550
This project is fully funded
My Students
I am fortunate to teach both English and Language Arts, as well as Social Studies to an energetic, and enthusiastic group of fifth-grade students. Our school is located in a large urban city. Our school is Title 1 funded, meaning that one hundred percent of the student population receives free lunch. The neighboring community is economically disadvantaged.
"I am GREAT- My education will make me even greater!" This is a line from an affirmation that my awe-inspiring fifth graders recite on a regular basis.
Though their living environments may be unfortunate at times and their communities are impoverished, they arrive in my classroom every single day with hope, promise and with the opportunity to BE GREAT!
My Project
Who doesn't love to curl up and read a good book? Well, unfortunately, many of our students today lack the ability to take books home to read.
Let's dine in to reading novels in a different way!
Hosting a book tasting is a different way to engage students into reading. They will be able to read various genres of literature. My purpose of holding a book tasting is to introduce new books to my students to read in book clubs/groups.
Allowing students the option to select what is of interest to them is AWESOME!! It is a moment I am eager to share with them.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
