Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the great privilege of teaching students in New York City public school, specifically in the borough of Manhattan. In our classroom, I try to integrate as much technology as possible, recognizing how important these skills are in a 21st-century classroom, comprised of digital natives.
Students in our school are extremely motivated, driven, and creative individuals.
Nothing would make me happier than to send them each off to middle school, prepared for the exciting learning beyond elementary school!
My Project
This year, I am teaching a class of fully remote 5th-grade students. This means that the students I am teaching are learning at home via Zoom and Google Classroom.
Remote learning- and teaching- is challenging work that requires the use of instructional technology programs that get the job done well!
These two programs - Kami and BreakoutEdu will work to support all learners in this challenging time. They will allow the students to work effortlessly from home using whichever device they may have. Kami is a great annotating software that will allow students to write directly on any documents shared with them electronically. This is so important since many of my students do not have access to printers at home! BreakoutEdu is an amazing game-based curriculum that not only reinforces concepts taught in class but also teaches students how to collaborate and communicate effectively!
