Digitally Documenting and Viewing Trout in the Classroom

Help me give my students digital tools to view and document raising trout in the classroom.

My Project

My students will get first hand experience helping in the recovery of native steelhead populations by participating in the Bay Area Classroom Aquarium Education Program (aka “Trout in the Classroom”). Our classroom has already been selected to participate in this program. By raising fish eggs, my students will experience how their personal actions affect the health of aquatic environments and the balance that must be met to maintain and care for these valuable resources. We need digital tools in order to maximize their learning and share this project with the greater community.

The pond camera will allow the aquarium to be livestreamed so students can view the fish at all hours.

The underwater video camera will allow students to record videos of specific fish and their activities. The ipad will allow students to edit and upload photos and videos to document and publish their learning about raising the trout. These ditital tools will allow the process of raising trout eggs and finally releasing the trout fry into Sandy Wool Lake in Milpitas to be shared with parents and the greater community.
