My Students
As a 6th-grade math teacher, my students are between 11 and 12 years old. Our students are very tech-savvy and have many different learning modalities. They really enjoy lessons that can engage them on multiple levels. I very rarely use a traditional blackboard/whiteboard to deliver lessons because our students just don't connect with that very well.
My Project
As a math teacher, it is difficult to capture your handwriting on a computer. Getting this digital pen tablet will allow me the opportunity to easily capture a digital copy of any problems that I want to work out and display to the students. In the classroom, it will give me the ability to move around the room and write on my Viewsonic Board. It has always been a challenge to monitor students while writing on the board. Whenever I am writing on the board, your back is to the students and this makes it easier for them to be distracted. For my online teaching, it will give me the ability to write on my screen so that students can still see me work out problems as I would if they were in the classroom. As it is now, I have to use the mouse pad to write or upload pictures of what I have written. Using the mouse pad is time-consuming and messy looking. Writing them out and taking pictures to upload makes working real-time with a student online difficult. I feel this will make a huge difference for both in the classroom and online instruction!
