My Students
My students are English Language Learners (ELLs) in a Title I elementary school in North Carolina. They are students with diverse language and cultural backgrounds who come from non-English-speaking families. They have varied English proficiency in academic and social languages, but they all have this in common: They strive for opportunities to participate in their learning communities and contribute to their diverse background.
My Project
The Nearpod learning platform will provide my students with the opportunity to participate and contribute to the learning community both in live instructions and asynchronous learning without the restraint of time, location, and language barrier.
Students need various tools to respond to instructions and demonstrate their understanding in addition to the traditional paper-pencil methods, especially during this remote learning time.
Nearpod provides various tools for teachers to modify their lessons and assignments to match students' learning needs. It also provides opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding through various interactive online activities on Nearpod that are fun and yet providing data on student work samples for teachers to evaluate and modify their lessons.
