This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology! It is essential in today's world. Unfortunately, some of our students in urban school districts do not have regular access to technology. I want my students to develop a lifelong interest in STEM and bringing current technology into the classroom would help make that a reality.
My students are hard working young people that come largely from low-income minority homes.
My students attend an urban middle school and do not have access to emerging technology. I think it would greatly increase interest in science, technology, engineering, and math if my students had better access to technology. I have tried to get students more involved with technology, but it is difficult because not all students have the resources at home necessary to engage in new age learning opportunities. I hope that DonorsChoose.org will help me bring more emerging technology into my classroom so that we can integrate technology on a daily basis.
My Project
My students have been using laptops to complete digital storyboards and portfolios throughout the first semester. We have run into some problems scanning documents and images into their board. For that reason, I am requesting a document scanner so that students will have the ability to digitize their content and include it in their projects.
I would love to give my students access to the best possible technology to prepare them for living in a digital age.
Additionally, I would like for my students to be able to capture the world around them (including their own projects and experiments). I have requested a GoPro because it is a durable and waterproof camera that can withstand the daily use it will get in my classroom. Ultimately, my goal for this project is to allow students to mix media for incorporation into their projects.
