This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very nice children who come from low-income families, mostly from Harlem and the Bronx; some of them live in shelters or are in foster care. Many students live in the projects and as a result, were not exposed to many interesting things that science can offer. However, all my students are very respectful and curious. This year, high school girls came up with idea to establish the volleyball girls team to increase of awareness of how being active can help mentally and physically.
My Project
One of my students struggles with writing. He has a low developed fine motor skills and are prescribed a scribe for him to write on tests or exams. He will benefit from a Neo Smart Pen which will allow him to take ownership of his work and feel more confident and independent during the exams. This pen will convert his writing into coherent one, that so teachers will be able to read and understand what was written. At the same time, student will gain confidence since he completes his work independently. I think this pen will make student's life more successful.
