This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For many, art class is a place for my students to express themselves freely, without being inhibited by language. It provides them with much needed confidence. Art class gives them an opportunity to have fun, socialize and feel good about themselves and the art they create.

These budding artists are eager to learn and participate.

They and are bright, talented and artistic. Ninety-five percent of the students are English Language Learners. My students love art because they can express themselves without having to struggle with words.

My Project

My students and I have been using distance learning to continue their art instruction. During March - June, they completed their assignments using Google Classroom. For many, this had been a bit of a struggle and difficult to complete assignments. The proposed plan for returning to school in September, includes distance learning. There is so much material available on the Teachers Pay Teachers website that lends itself to Distance Learning. It's a great resource created by teachers for teachers, who understand what the standards are and what students need.

These gift cards will allow me to buy new and exciting digital resources to share with my students to make distance learning more fun.

I will be able to buy visuals to help the students understand key concepts. I can also buy educational games and other engaging learning activities that relate to standards being taught, and that the students will be able to do online.

Your donations to our project will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will ultimately be helping to increase their academic achievement. These resources will continue to be available to students as learning tools into the following school year and beyond.
