This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in the vibrant Gage Park neighborhood and they bring their best effort daily. They have so many stories to share ranging from how they are in a bike group to how their parents are opening up a small restaurant in the community. I love that my students remind me of myself as a student also attending their elementary school and living in their same neighborhood. They always want to know how our school and community has changed since I was a kid.
They have robust personalities which makes for great, invigorating conversations.
My students are inquisitive, smart, and assertive.
My Project
Digital learning has taken some time to get used to, but my students and I have built strong relationships and manageable routines which allows us to maximize our time learning time. I know my learners very well now and I can see where I need to provide differentiated support. Our curriculums do not provide differentiated material therefore, I have to find other ways to create assignments that are meeting my students' needs.
A Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to purchase high quality and differentiated materials for my students to use remotely.
Additionally, I have purchased sticky notes for students to use while they take notes in their chapter books.
