Students in my class love to learn digitally! They prefer to use digital apps for practice and creation.
Through grants at my school, my second graders have received many iPads; however, they are constantly in need of new and exciting apps for their iPads.
I have exhausted all of the "free" apps that I possibly can. There are many more apps that would be beneficial for my students!
My Project
My Second graders need iPads in the classroom for Math, ELA, Social Studies, and Science. When they are working at an iPad station, they will be able to utilize all of their new and relevant apps. For example, the majority of my apps are manipulatives and number lines.
Second graders benefit in math from having something they can see and/or touch, but I have to share my materials with other teachers. The science apps that I want are a perfect fit for our curriculum and school's namesake, a former teacher astronaut in space. They can use the apps to digitally enhance and extend upon my large group instruction.
Many of my students come from low socioeconomic families.
The only exposure they have to technology is when they are at school. In order to develop 21st century skills, they need the tools and apps to become successful digital learners.
